LIS New Professionals Network

Hello,

I thought it would be nice for people to be able to announce that they've joined the network somewhere, so I'll get the ball rolling shall I?

I've just joined the network, my name's Richard and I work for CILIP in the Information and Advice team. I graduated from UCL in 2007, so I suppose I qualify as a new professional.

I currently working extremely slowly on my Chartership and thinking about what sort of route I want my career to take in the future.

I work for Leeds University on something called the LIFE-SHARE Project, have been working at Leeds (and in libraries at all) since 2006. Finished my Masters last year.

I'm really interested in how information professionals get into roles other than the traditional and less traditional ones that actually take place in libraries. I don't suppose you fancy adding your library root to Library Routes, Richard..? (Media wiki is down so don't try it right now, but generally speaking..)

I'm Jennie, and am neither new, nor very professional, but I wanted to be in the cool gang with the other fun kids ;)

But, being proper: I work for a commercial law firm in Edinburgh, am Chartered, have somehow ended up as the Convenor of my sector professional body (Scottish Law Librarians Group, the SLLG),  blog in a very random manner, and generally enjoy all this social networking gubbins :)

I work for a professional services firm dealing in property and I am currently studying for my MA by distance learning. I am also New Professionals Support Officer for CDG London & South East Divisions and a committee member for CILIP in London. I have been working in the same organisation as an Information Officer since 2007.

I work as a school librarian, at an British international school in Bangkok.  Have been here for a year now, and liking it very much - my library assistants rock!  Before here I spent a year volunteering as the librarian at a children's home in Mexico, and before that I spent a few years as a children's librarian for Croydon Libraries, during which time I got my MCLIP.  Can also be found on twitter, @angellibrarian.

I'm currently a graduate trainee at Oxford (though coming to the end with only 4 weeks left to go now) and as of September I will be studying for my MA at Sheffield whilst hopefully getting lots more experience of working in libraries.  So I'm on the look out for exciting information/library vacancies/volunteering opportunities at the moment whilst preparing to move to Sheffield.

I work as an Assistant Information Adviser looking after the civil engineering, built environment, geography/geology lot in the School of Environment and Technology here at the University of Brighton.I got my MA Information Studies in July and started this job in January 2009. I really enjoy the information literacy side of my role, the other stuff is ok too :-)

Outside of work, but still with my information professional head on I am the Joint Publicity Officer for the CILIP South East Branch along with friend, colleague and fellow Librarian on the Loose, Sarah Ison (who is also on here!). I'm also on the committee for the Career Development Group London and South East Divisions and provide support for the Candidate Support Officers who do workshops and seminars about chartership, certification and the like.

I'm another one that's slowy, but surely working towards chartership!

Like Jennie, I like all these social networking shennanigans and find them really valuable.

I'm also helping out with this, the LISNPN, aces.

I work in the Statistics Resource Unit of the House of Commons Library. I used to work at Sheffield University Library and got my LIS Masters from Sheffield in 2007. I'm New Professional Coordinator for CILIP's Career Development Group and I like finding out about other new professionals so this is a great idea for a thread.

I am a graduate library trainee at Oxford at the moment (although come September I will be moving up North - to Lancaster to be specific!). My position is in an online specialist collection (associated with the NHS). I am going to study for my MA at MMU, however due to financial reasons I have put this off until next year (September 2011). So, I will be scouting around for any LIS position come September!
