Just a reminder that registration for the amazingly cool fist ever satellite unconference IFLAcamp is still open. It takes place on 9th/10th of August 2012 in a beautiful city of Hämeenlinna in Finland just prior to World Library and Information Congress.

The event is limited to 100 participants, therefore there are still some places left. The registration and event itself is free of charge and we've made a pretty good deal for accommodation too. Besides, it's easy to get to.

It's the right place to go for ideas, share your experience and meet new professionals!

Anyone going from the UK   - any tips for cheap travel?

it might be worth checking flights to Tallinn, Estonia and then take a ferry (Tallink) to Helsinki and train to Hameenlinna (i'll do that).  :)

Also with Ryanair they say that tickets get significantly cheaper 2 months before the flight date. Don't know if it applies with other companies?

I'm going to IFLAcamp from the UK. There is a Ryanair flight from London (Stansted) to Tampere. See the travel directions from Tampere to Hameenlinna: http://npsig.wordpress.com/iflacamp/location/. And also there is a Ryanair flight from Manchester to Tallinn. Then you can take a ferry to Helsinki, after that - bus or train.

As Sanita said, Ryanair flights are cheaper when booking 8 and also 3 weeks in advance. So wait a bit and the tickets will get cheaper. Let me know whether you're going to join me. I'm flying from London.

Thanks for the helpful advice Sanita and Dace! I need to sit down properly and work out if I can afford it. I really want to visit Tallinn so I'm thinking maybe I could go that way and spend a few days there before or after IFLACamp Will let you know!

I've just taken the plunge and booked an IFLA Camp ticket but I don't know anyone who is going. Is there anyone else going on their own who would like to share accommodation? I'm all about the cheaper option and staying on my own will certainly turn out more expensive!

Unfortunately I didn't manage to find anyone :(. I don't think I'm going to be able to afford to go which is a shame but I feel 2013 will be my year!

Hi Rosie, I think you can book the accommodation in a 5-bedded cottage and they will find 4 other IFLAcamp participants who would like to join you. My friends from Latvia (two students) will do the same.
