I'm so glad reading this and not being the only person worrying about money. As far as I can tell I'll need to work full time as well as studying part time, which is just going to be horrible, but I'm being very sensible and not banking on getting a library job. In fact, I'm assuming I'll have a minimum wage job next year, which is depressing.

It's really interesting seeing what people in other libraries are doing, I'm at a very specialist library, the National Art library, and so far most of our trips have been pretty art related, we went to the RA and have a trip to the Courtald coming up. I think I may have to investigate the possibility of a less arty library trip.

If you would like to organise a trip to the London Library just let me know and I will be able to put you in touch with the right people at my end! Similarly, I'm currently in the middle of compiling a list of places that me and my fellow trainees might like to visit, so we might put the National Art library on there. Not sure how many visits we're actually allowed, but my list seems to be getting longer by the week!

P.S Do any of you have blogs documenting your time as trainees? I'd quite like to have a read. We haven't got an official 'graduate trainee' one, but we have been contributing to the London Library blog, and will continue to do so between now and next September. Here's the link if you fancy a read!

I don't know about the others but I'm in the process of getting my old blog back up, I think it's going to be my project for my week off over Christmas so it won't be too long before it's up, I'll put a link here when it is. I'll talk to the others about it, we've been discussing the idea of a more official one but it could be a long time coming because of red tape.

You should totally come to the NAL, it'd be really interesting to meet other graduate trainees and there's a few things about the way the library is run that are pretty unusual, the fact it's closed stacks and the amount of special collections items we have for a start. The library does tours for visiting groups fairly regularly so I can't see that fixing one up would be a problem.

Hello everyone, I'm Jessica and I'm the Leeds Met Graduate Trainee. I'm a bit late to the party as I only started in November.

I live in Sheffield and am pretty settled, so I will definitely be applying to do the course there, hopefully full time but who knows with all the funding issues. I might save for a bit and then do it.

I really love my job so far, I'm doing hundreds of new and exciting things which is good. It seems like we all do very different things. I have spoken to Roisin at Leeds, and am excited at the prospect of various visits :-)

Excited at the prospect of meeting some of you in 2012, it's all exciting/scary. I've bitten the bullet and applied for UCL so just going to have to wait now to see if I get an interview etc.

Sorry to barge into this discussion but just wanted to say to Jessica - Hello, I was a Leeds Met graduate trainee in 2008/2009!  Hope you're enjoyed it so far. I had a great year and learnt lots. I also did the MA at Sheffield!
