An influx of useful stuff in the Resources area! Tags: How To Guides LIS Masters Reviews LISNPN

Just a quick note to say, we've now added loads of documents to the Resources area. This is going to continue to expand (and if you have either ideas for stuff you'd like to see, or ideas for stuff you'd like to write, let us know) but for the moment it contains:

  • 10 (count 'em) anonymous reviews of LIS Masters courses. Considering doing a library degree? You can't afford not to read these first
  • A successful Chartership portfolio for your perusal
  • How To guides on public speaking, setting up a blog, and using peer networks
  • An absolutely awesome guide to getting published, with contributions from Debby Raven (CILIP Gazette editor) and Elspeth Hyams (Update editor) among others! Really pleased with this one...

By default, the Resources page will list the most recent additions to the archive at the top, but if you want to list them by type just change the display option to 'name'.

We now have more than 220 members, and that's without yet having really pushed it - expect more when we post to a couple of JISCMail lists and get some mentions in the trade press. Thank you all for joining!

As Jo mentioned in the previous post there's now a LISNPN twitter account (@LISNPN) which not only provides info on new LIS jobs as they become available, it also tells you whenever there is a new forum post (at least in the forums which are open to all, not just members). You can also keep up with what's happening in the forums by clicking the 'subscribe' button on the posts, which appears on the top-right of any post in the forum (when you're logged in). Once this is on, you'll automatically get emails with a brief preview (and a link) of any replies to all the threads you've contributed to; you can of course unsubscribe at any time. Worth doing, I reckon.

As ever, if there's other stuff you'd like to see added, head to the suggestions forum and we'll see what we can do.

- Ned
